Coronavirus Prevention : How to Protect Yourself and Others

The COVID-19 disease has been spreading rampantly throughout the world with no definite cure or vaccine as of yet, but, if we follow the WHO and CDC coronavirus prevention guidelines, we will be able to protect ourselves and loved ones from this disease. The best way to prevent illness is to avoid exposure to the virus. The virus spreads through person-to-person contact supposedly, so we better avoid close contact with one another or at least keep 6 feet distance when engaging because the respiratory droplets from infected person contain the virus. These droplets remain in the air or stick to the surface when the infected person talks, sneezes or coughs and if inhaled can infect a healthy person. Some studies have suggested that the virus may be spread by people even if they aren’t showing any symptoms.

Wash your Hands

Wash your hands regularly and thoroughly with an alcohol-based hand rub or wash them with soap and water for at least 20 seconds especially after you have been in a public place, or after coughing, sneezing, blowing your nose or before eating and touching your face.

Social Distancing

don’t go out unnecessarily, but if you have to, then avoid going to crowded places because it’ll be hard to maintain 6 feet distance and the chances of being in contact with infected person increases

Wear a Mask

Wearing a mask is the most effective practice in combating COVID-19 disease. Mask not only protect you from others but in case you have the virus, it protects others as well, you better make sure not to go out in public without a mask.

Monitor Your Health

Keep your health in check, Watch for fever, cough, shortness of breath, or other symptoms of COVID-19. Stay home and self-isolate even with minor symptoms, until you recover or If you have a high fever, cough and difficulty breathing, seek medical attention right away.
